How I Finally Got A Flat Stomach

Hello all you wonderful people. I hope you guys are having an awesome day. We are going strong in our second month of quarantine, and hopefully the end is near. Just gotta stay positive! One of the positives I have found in the light of all this is that I have finally gotten a decently flat stomach! Now I don’t have my washboard abs yet, but I am still very proud of myself. This has seriously been something that I have wanted since I was in middle school. The other day, I put on my swimsuit to go outside and sunbathe, and when I looked in the mirror I noticed that you can see the outline of my abs! Haha I am sure you can imagine my excitement. Since it is something that I have been working towards for forever, I thought I would share my tips with you on how I finally got a flat stomach.

Before we begin, just a disclaimer that everyone’s body is beautiful. You do not need to have a flat stomach or tight and toned body, as long as you are happy that is all that matters. 🙂

Step 1. You Are What You Eat

I know, we have all heard this time and time again, but I believe it rings true. Your body is going to give to you what you put into it. If you like to feed it quick sugary foods, it is probably going to give you a quick short energy burst leaving you feeling sluggish all day. I definitely learned this the hard way through battling eating disorders throughout the years, but after finally gaining a healthy relationship with food I realized that statement rings true.

Personally, I do not track calories or macros anymore. However, I used to do it so much in the past I typically know the nutritional value of everything that I put into my mouth. Lol back in high school I would sit around the lunch table with all my friends and they would always ask me how many calories were on their tray, because I had literally memorized the calories and portion sizes of everythingggg. Definitely had some issues there, but it is kind of a funny memory to look back on now.

I think that it is wise to maybe track what you are eating/drinking once or twice, just so you can get educated on what you are consuming. Aka figure out if you are consuming too many calories, or too little and just learn the basic nutritional value of foods.

You can find a day of eating in my life here. Typically, I eat a protein smoothie in the morning, veggies & meat for lunch, fruit & nuts for a snack, and meat & veggies for dinner.

Step 2. Drink All The Water

The amount of water everyone needs is different, but I recommend you figure out that amount and try to hit it every single day. Personally, for me I drink a little over a gallon a day. It really helps with skin, debloating, and just helps your body to function smoothly. One of my most recent obsessions has been my hydroflask! It makes me want to drink more water.

Step 3. Move Yo Body

It is so so so important to get your body up and moving. I know this is one that people tend to struggle with the most. You don’t have to go out and life 500lbs, just find something that you enjoy doing! For me, I have absolutely fallen in love with crossfit. I also think that lifting weights helps to burn fat quicker. That is just my own personal experience tho, so just try things out for yourself and see what works and what doesn’t. 🙂

Step 4. Get Some Sleep

Whenever you workout and tear your muscles it is crucial that you give your body time to recover aka get some sleep. Also, have you ever noticed that when you get less sleep you tend to eat more? I know the amount that everyone needs is different, personally for me my sweet spot is 7 hours. Just find yours and make it a goal to hit that every night. Your body and mind will thank you.

Step 5. Reduce Stress

I know this one can be hard, especially given the circumstances we are in now. But just try your best to mediate and remain positive. When our bodies are stressed they tend to hold onto excess fat. Some of my favorite ways to get rid of stress our hanging out with my loved ones, reading, taking a bath, and meditating like I mentioned earlier. Just find what works for you and stick with it.
