My First Ever Murph Workout

Hi guys! I hope you are all have an amazing holiday weekend. I have been spending my weekend having quality time with friends and family. We have spent a lot of time out on the water soaking up the sun. It has been so wonderful. Fast forward to Monday (aka today) I decided to do the Murph workout that my gym was putting on. It is a workout in memory of Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who was killed in Afghanistan June 28th, 2005. Murphy was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor after his death. This workout was one of Mike’s favorites and he’d named it ‘Body Armor.

At first I didn’t want to do the workout, but it felt amazing to suffer a little bit for those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. So thank you to all those that have served, are currently serving, and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. We are so blessed to live in a free and protected country!

The Workout

The workout itself is

  • 1 mile
  • 100 pull ups
  • 200 push ups
  • 300 squats
  • 1 mile

In order to actually be able to get through the workout in a decent amount of time, I broke the middle section up.

Here is what my workout looked like:

  • 1 mile
  • 10 Rounds of
  • 10 pull ups
  • 20 push ups
  • 20 squats
  • Then 100 more squats
  • 1 mile

I am not sure that was the most efficient way to do it, but now I will know for the next time around!

My final time for this workout was 48m and 58 seconds. The hardest part was definitely all the arm stuff. I could hardly even run with my arms bent for the last mile. I had to let them hang down by my side lol.

If any of you have been thinking about doing this little workout challenge, I highly recommend it. It definitely sucks but you will feel so proud after doing it.

Other Life Updates

My job officially resumes June 1st! I have been off for a little over three months now. I am definitely ready to go back, but just nervous about all the new precautions we will have to be taking.

Apartment hunting is officially in full swing. I plan to move out and go to college in the fall, so I have been looking for a place to live. It is definitely a nerve wracking but exciting process!

Hope you guys all enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Love,

Kate

Congrats on completing the Murph Workout! I honestly always feel so much stronger after that workout. Probably because I am usually finishing it with my friends. I didn’t get to do it this year because of COVID. 🙁
What would you say are your list of MUST HAVES in your apartment? Will you be going to a large college (are you not required to live on campus??) if so you may want to secure the first apartment you find which checks most of the boxes because affordable apartments disappear FAST! 🙁

Thank you! And yes that workout is so fun. I was glad that our town has lifted several of the regulations, so I could finally see all my workout buddies again.

Um honestly I am a pretty simple person, so not to many must haves are on my list. Just the basic furniture and maybe one tv lol. I actually just put a deposit on one, so that stress has finally lifted off!!

Thank you for your comment. Have a great day.
