Have you ever wondered what it is like to have a twin? Like do twins think the same thoughts? Or do they act the same and do the same things? I hate to break it to you, but no. At least not in my case.
I have been a twin for almost 18 years. In those 18 years, I have made so many memories and experienced many things that come with having a twin. It is truly a blessing, even though most of the time I want to kill her. I always have someone to take pictures of me, tell a story too, and talk with. It was especially awesome when I was a child, because I always had someone to play with.
This picture cracks me up! This is Sarah, my funny, red head, smart, and lots of other things sister. She is pretty great I have to admit. We have so many great memories together. One of our favorite things to do together is make videos while we are in the car! We are always driving, and usually we ride together, so we are always making videos where we lip sync to songs. It is so much fun lol. I would include one on here, but I am not really sure how to do that yet.
Sarah and I have grown up sharing everything. We shared a bed till sixth grade, and shared a room until last year. We wear the same size, so we are always stealing each others clothes. Also, we share a car! The main question we get asked is if that sucks, but honestly sharing a car isn’t that bad. Most of the times we are going to the same places. She does have a boyfriend that she likes to go and hangout with, but I am just usually always home so that doesn’t cause problems. If there is ever an issue we can usually compromise pretty quickly.
Sarah and I are total opposites. I like things to be nice and neat, and she could care less. She also likes to stay up late, whereas I go to bed early and wake up early. Sarah also likes to socialize more than I do. I love hanging out with my friends, but it isn’t something that I have to do everyday.
We have never had that twin issue where people get us mixed up. Occasionally, people will mix up our names, but usually that is because they don’t really know us. We are fraternal twins, which means we don’t look alike, which you can probably tell.
Sarah and I have also pretty well always participated in the same sports. We both competed in gymnastics when we were younger. It wasn’t until we were in jr high that I went the dancing route, and she stuck to the gymnastics and cheer route. We have been very blessed in life with the parents we were given. I know that raising four kids is expensive, especially when you have twins who go through the same life events at the same time, such as birthdays and getting a car. But, they have always allowed us to do sports and participate in things that make us happy. I think that is way more important than having the newest pair of nike shoes.
At times I do wonder what it would be like if I didn’t have a twin. But, I know my life would be a lot more boring if I didn’t. Love you Sarah. 🙂
